Birthplace: My name is Rut Mery Aroni Lopez. My parents are Gualberto Aroni Chino and Gregoria Bautista López Flores. I have 3 siblings and their names are Edwin (18), Tania (15), and Jessica Lourdes (13). I was born on the 8th of April, 1984 in Puerto Maldonado, Peru.
How I came to know Christ: I was born in a Catholic family that commonly would go to parties and drink in honor of the Catholic church. Very soon my father started doing crazy things. He would break the TV antenna and try to hit us with it. He would break all the electronic artifiacts and he would grab things and make them fall. This caused in my heart a desire to escape from home. Especially after one time when my dad said "you aren't my daughter!!" This affected me in a drastic way. I felt rejected by him and by my whole family. To this day, I don't know my real father, but I know his name and I pray for him so that one day he will be saved and I can share the love of God which I have had the privilige to experience. After some time, we went to live in Arequipa, Peru in the district of Paucarpata. It was there that some young people invited my siblings to Sunday School. That is where I met sister Roxana, and they invited me to church, but I refused because I thought that they were a cult. I went to a service, and after a young people's meeting, I decided to continue going to the church. I continued going, and at the age of 15 I got saved after hearing a message from the pastor Felipe Choquehuanca. He said that one day there was going to be a judgement and that I needed to be saved. For some time, I had doubts because I though that you obtained salvation through prayer, but through discipleship through the pastor's wife, I realized that it was through faith in Christ as my personal saviour.
How Christ has changed my Life: Once I was saved, my mother saw that I had overcome many things in my life. I was more patient, I didn't feel resentment and I was spending more time with them as a family and they especially liked that. Before I was saved, I was almost always out on the streets with my friends. I started getting involved in some ministries like maintenance, Sunday School, nursery and Patch the Pirate club. I started to dedicate myself completely to these things. My family started saying that I was wasting my time because it was something that wasn't providing any money for me and they told me that I should find some way to earn a living. They would have preferred if I had prepared for some career like education.
My Calling into the Ministry: While I was involved in the ministry at my church my pastor preached on giving your life totally to God’s work. I decided to enter the Seminary but I did not tell my parents of my decision at that time. At the same time, my brother Rohly was diagnosed with liver cancer. The doctors said it was due to a blow or beating in that area. He passed away after 3 months in the hospital. This incident shook my faith somewhat because I could not understand why God would allow such a thing to happen. However I finally decided that nothing or no one would separate me from Christ and clung to the verses in Joshua that say to be of good courage and not to be afraid. I was still fearful to mention my desire to enter the Seminary but my mother ended up being the one to bring it up. She asked me why I didn’t just study in the seminary if that was what I wanted so bad. I knew this was the hand of God. That March I went to the Seminary and since that time it has been a dream come true for me. I have begun to take the things of the ministry very seriously now. The Seminary has encouraged me to do much more for World Evangelism and also to help grow the young ladies ministries.
My Plans for the Future: God has given a desire to have a daycare center for parents that need to work. This way we could teach children from an early age about God and give them a good foundation in their lives. I also would like to begin a ministry to help teens that are in the bondage of drugs and alcohol to be free. Another thing I would like to do is work in any way in a Christian School. |
