Birthplace: My name is Luz Marina Pino Cabana and I was born on July 31st, 1984 in the district of Arequipa, province of Arequipa , department of Arequipa – Peru . I come from a family from 7 children: Soledad (23), me (21), Paola (21), Andrés (18), Alicia (16), Daniela (11) y Paul (8).
How I came to know Christ: I came from a Catholic family background. We had statues in the house, but rarely went to church, and my mother lit candles every time she needed a favor. My Father usually spent the money he earned as a mechanic, so there were frequently fights at our home and sometimes those arguments got physical violent. Sometimes got in the middle to try to stop the fight, and occasionally my dad hit us too. After I finished high school I went to work as a babysitter in the city of Tacna for 2 years. It was a new and surprising experience, but nothing to complain about. I missed my family for a while but I got over it soon. I came back to visit every 2 months or during holydays, and was there when my sister Paola, who already was going to church, invited me to a reunion in the church. Pastor Ronald Tubillas was preaching, at the beginning I was not interested at all, but God was working in my heart. Many times I wanted to raise my hand but I did not. Though later in a Youth meeting, I heard a Salvation message and the biblical example used was The Richman and Lazarus. I accepted Jesus that evening and during the next day service I raise my hand again because I was not sure what I had done. My Sister Kelly Alvarez helped me to understand the eternal security.
How Christ has changed my Life: I was not respectful to anyone, but when I met Christ and learned to study my Bible, my attitude changed and I started obeying my authorities. I stopped wearing pants and immodest clothes, and began to wear more modest and apparel, like the Bible teaches. My father didn't agree with my new Christian life, and I was living with him, so I tried to give him reasons but he would not hear me. So far in my family there are 4 people saved, the remaining members of my family have not yet made a decision. Some of my family attends a Baptist church, while the rest attend non Baptist churches. I am praying that soon, the rest of my family will come to know Christ.
My Calling into the Ministry: Kelly Alvarez told me about the boarding school at my church, for young ladies. In my curiosity to see the ministry, God gave me a love for the harvest field. God placed in my heart a desire to do his work. I head about the Seminary, but because I was afraid, I went back to Tacna . Even though I hade many more chances to study, and work over there, I came back to Arequipa . When my sister heard about my willingness, to study at the seminary, she said that it was fine to have a Christian life, and was exited. Nothing could stop my desire to praise God with my voice, and to be a pastor's wife. I prayed to God that I could have my parent's permission. I spoke to my mother, and she told me that I could do whatever God has placed on my heart. She knows that if I do not follow Gods will for my life that I will not be happy. My father told me the same thing, but he made it clear that he was not going to support me. I left my house, got into boarding school, and now I am living by faith. The Seminary is a perfect place to prepare to do Gods work. I have learned that whatever I do it is not in vain. I see many students at the Seminary that live a true saint's life; which has challenged me to do more for the cause of Christ. The chapel services and the courses that I am taking have been vital. I fell like I am ready to conger the world.
My Plans for the Future: If it is in Gods plan, I wish to serve him the rest of my life, with either a Pastor or a missionary. But if not I would like to serve Him where ever He wants me, which in my heart is in the city of Tacna . There are many young ladies that are living a life that is very displeasing to God. I want to tell them about how much God loves them. |
