Birthplace: My name is Jemima Soto Ferrel, my parents are Vicente Soto Sornaza and Hilda Ferrel Castillo. We are 5 siblings: I (25), Noemi (19), Rocío Ester (16), Bernabé (9), and Lidia (6). I was born on March 25th, 1980 in the district of Quillabamba, province of La Convencion in the department of Cusco – Peru .
How I came to Know Christ: I was born in a Christian home, going to Sunday School in the “Iglesia Bautista Cirialo”. My father was Pastor and we served in the field and did the work of the Lord. I was saved at the age of 8, when my father shared with me the gospel, and I understood the decision with Jhon 3:16, I knew I wanted to go to heaven and for that I needed Christ.
How Christ has changed my Life: Before I was saved I went to a church, but things changed after I accepted Jesus, because I knew the love of God and was baptized when I was 12. My mother discipled me and I started to serve God when I was 16 in Sunday School in the children's ministry. I also was involved in other ministries in the church.
My Calling into the Ministry: Since I was 15 I have had the desire in my heart to serve God in full time ministry. My parents helped me to accomplish my call sending me to the Baptist Seminary in Cusco , where I studied for one year. My parents studied before me for 2 years, and from them I learned many things. Later we started to minister in a Baptist Church in the city of Cusco named “ San Sebastian ”. I heard from Pastor Alejandro Mendoza about Macedonia Baptist Seminary in the city of Arequipa , and the possibility to serve Christ in the Ministry. I finally started my studies in the year 2004. The Seminary has been a wonderful place where I have learned a lot about helping people. The first year shocked me because I was not used to living under rules, but God has taught me, and now I realize the importance of living with rules. Right now I do not any have financial help from my parents nor my church, though God has provided jobs through some sisters in Christ.
My Plans for the Future: If it is in God's will I would like to start a ministry working with ladies and young children. I'm praying God will give me the opportunity to advice woman about how to follow the Bible, and be in the will of God. I would like to be a missionary's wife, but only when God decides. For now I'm praying and waiting for His will for my life. |
